JMF Installer

by tudor ()
JMF Installer is a package for easy installation of the Java Media Framework into Debian and Ubuntu GNU/Linux environments. This package asks the user for acceptance of the Java Media Framework Binary Code License Agreement (BCLA) license, downloads the linux installer file from sun.com, and then installs it. The package is licensed GPL3, whereas Oracle's Java Media Framework it downloads is currently licensed BCLA. For more information on the Oracle Java Media Framework, see the Oracle page on [http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/tech/index-jsp-140239.html Java 2 SE Desktop Technologies]. === Installation from Bentokit Repository === To install the JMF Installer, we strongly encourage you to add the Bentokit Repository to your Debian or Ubuntu system. Adding the repository will automatically install any future improvements to the software. Go to the Downloads page and click "Linux". It will download a .deb file. Either run as is, or download it and double click to install it. Go to Synaptic (System->Administration->Synaptic Package Manager) and click "Reload". You will now be able to access all nightly releases and upgrades will occur along with all your other software. === Manual Installation === Alternatively, [http://www.bentokit.org/debian/pool/nightly/jmf-installer_0.1.0.20110322-1_all.deb download] the debian package file to install it manually. Doing this will not upgrade the software in future until a new version of the package is downloaded and installed. You can also download: [http://www.bentokit.org/debian/pool/nightly/jmf-plugins-mp3-installer_0.1.0.20110322-1_all.deb the JMF mp3 plugin installer], and [http://www.bentokit.org/debian/pool/nightly/jmf-plugins-jogg_0.1.0.20110322-1_all.deb the J-Ogg JMF Ogg Vorbis, Theora, and Flac plugin].
